Flooded With Rain And Bananas – or How do I find my #Monday Motivation?

via Daily Prompt: Stifle

Talk about Monday motivation after two weeks of rain- and no change in sight. (Dear sun ๐ŸŒž- I really miss you and please come back soon!? ๐Ÿ˜˜)

To not get depressed I have to do something that makes me happy. It always makes me happy to see people enjoy my homemade farm treats. In order to have some at hand I first have to produce them. And since we’ve been blessed with an abundance of bananas I decided to dry some today.

Dehydrating all kinds of goodies with my stove-top dehydrator (a big stainless- steel sheet on top of a water tank) is one of my hobbies. I’ve dried several kinds of fruit like bananas, pineapples, mangoes, coconuts – as well as the sepals of the hibiscus flower for tea, other herbs , Moringa leaves and even meat-jerkies.

I used to be a fan of canning – but lately came to see more value in dehydrating. It doesn’t require expensive canning lids and jars.. and dried goods don’t take up nearly as much space as the canned ones.20180129_094157

So here I am with my bananas peeled and cut. And outside the rain is still pouring. It took me a few attempts to get a fire going (I’m using the top of my wood-cookstove for the dryer) as the damp air always tried to stifle the fire.๐Ÿ”ฅFinally I got it going.20180129_095509-1It is going to take 6 to 8 hours until the bananas will be dry enough to be put away and stored. If processed properly they could last months or years .. however they never last that long in my house since everybody likes them so much…

And now I’m patiently waiting for some tasty banana treats – to brighten my own (and other people’s ) rainy days ๐ŸŒž20180129_115550-1
