Typical Day

via Daily Prompt: Typical

Just another typical day of my life .. coming to an end. It’s late and I’ve been wanting to post yesterday already .. or the day before? As always something else was keeping me from it.. today it was the chance of a ride to the neighboring country Guatemala.

We just crossed the border and stayed in Melchore for a couple hours mainly to do some shopping. Until today I didn’t even know that almost everyone in that town accepts Belizean money and it’s not even necessary to change!

Taking a little toddler girl along was tiresome: to always watch that she doesn’t disappear between clothes and people. My main focus was on her all the time .. so much that I left a bag with new clothes in the restroom. How could I? As soon as I discovered it I rushed back ..and luckily it was still there ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜…

Being a Mom and shopping .. haha, there’s all this lists from everyone else in my head. Searching to find something for everyone. Hoping you made the right choices for them. Of course you don’t always get it right. There’s a little disappointed girl tonight that had expected I would have brought her something else…

Walking around and shopping makes hungry .. and so we choose a little roadside restaurant to have some pupusas. Having their origin in El Salvador they’re very common also in the neighboring countries- like Guatemala. It’s a thick corn tortilla filled with cheese, beans or other combinations; served with tomato sauce and a coleslaw. I’ve never had so cheesy ones as today!IMG_20180305_171115_800

It’s late now.. we made it back home alright and I’m really exhausted, but I didn’t want to end this day (there’s still a few minutes of it left) ๐Ÿ˜‰ without at least a short postโ˜บ

    1. Writing is therapy for me. Always has been. I came to a point where I thought I either start writing – or I’ll go crazy. Originally I also wanted to have like a documentation of the development on our homestead and a place to share my recipes ( only did one so far ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜…)

    1. Oh thank you so much. I was rather tired to write more ..so I thought I’ll let the pictures do some of the talking. And my little one she’s like no other ..a few seconds out of your eyes and she’s gone. Follows other children.. runs to a booth with toys… or stands right behind me when I frantically start searching for her ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Great post! Sounds like a busy day. My former colleague was from el Salvador and she used to be in raptures, talking about her beloved pupusas. She found a lady who sold them in Geneva it buying some would be a special treat for her! I never tried one but have always been intrigued. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. P.s. I had to drive into the next town this morning and found passion fruit in the supermarket!! I have planted several seeds but I’m not overly optimistic, as the fruit was very old and wrinkly.

    2. โ˜บyou should really try them whenever you get a chance to do so. Though I have tried quite a few they never were quite as tasty and cheesy as this timeโ€ฆ or was it because I hardly ever skip my lunch?ย ๐Ÿ˜‰(it was rather evening than noon until we finally stopped to eat โ€œlunchโ€ย ๐Ÿ˜…

  2. Mmmhh those pupusas look soooo good, they look similar to arepas, which I love! And yes when my kids were really little no matter where I went or what I did, I could never remember anything that I saw because the only thing I ever saw was my kids haha.
