Versatile Blogger Award

My blog is a little over a month old -and this is my fourth award. Constant posting and interaction with other bloggers is not only fun and helpful but also results in pleasant surprises like this.

Curiosity, thank you so much for the nomination. She writes very inspirational posts; for example how to go Sugar-Free for a couple days – Check it out!Screenshot_2018-02-20-12-49-12-1

The rules for this one are quite simple:

  • Write 7 interesting facts about yourself
  • Nominate 15 amazing bloggers for the award

7 facts about myself:

  1. While striving for the most minimalistic lifestyle possible I ended up moving from my home-country Germany to jungle wilderness in Centralamerica. For seven years I lived completely without electricity, telephone, internet, car and all modern amenities.
  2. I’m half Greek. Hardly know how to speak it.. but I do honor my Greek heritage by still cooking all the Greek dishes -just the way my grandmother taught me to.
  3. I love to talk to my animals. Telling them stories or things they should or shouldn’t do, why I like them so much and so on ..oh, and No, I don’t do self-talk 😉
  4. I repurpose everything possible. Old clothes get cut into stripes and crocheted into rugs. Gallon jugs are reused for milk, bottles filled with homebrewed wine, other containers turn into planters.
  5. One thing on my bucket list is spending some time -at least one night- all by myself on an island. I know which island already; I just didn’t get to do it yet.
  6. I’ve been planting all kinds of stuff: trees, flowers, vegetables and ornamental plants and palm trees – all over our place. My neighbor asked me years ago after I finished a row of ornamental ginger: “Are you done planting now?” Laughing at him I answered: “I’ll never be done! Just watch me!” 😉
  7. After living in the jungle for years I don’t freak out anymore when I see snakes, tarantulas or other creepy creatures.

Nominees:

Congratulations to my nominees and I am looking forward to read your responses. Please don’t feel obliged to participate, if you don’t feel like it.

  1. That’s so amazing how you lived without modern technology and basic transportation for so long! It seems incredibly difficult to do in today’s era, especially by choice. And thank you so much for the nomination!!

    1. We had a horse and buggy as transportation. That brought us to the highway were we could travel with public transportation when it was necessary. It was quite an experience but with our growing family we switched to a more moderate lifestyle 😉

  2. You are so lovely to nominate me again…thank you so much! 🙂 I am seriously in awe of your lifestyle. I would love to experience your way of life, even if only for a few days, but I never had the courage to make even the first step. Hopefully I’ll at least get increasingly greener by and by. I love the idea of crocheting rugs from old clothes!

  5. Hi Becca, thanks for posting!:) Number 1 sounds soo interesting. I have no idea how you lived for 7 years without being connected to modern life. Not sure if you have already written about it but would love to read how you transitioned!:)

    1. No, I didn’t write about it yet. I’m planning on a post about our life then and now. Or something like that. Already started to choose from the few existing pictures of that time. Since we didn’t own a camera or phone I have only the few that I later got from visitors we had (family and friends)

  7. Congrats! Less than a month blogging? You’re obviously on the right track, keep up the good work… And, um, 7 years without modern amenities? I’m sure you have some amazing stories, I’d love to hear (read* haha) them.

    1. Thanks so much for taking a look at my posts! I wish I had more time to write, but being an elementary teacher kind of takes it out of me. Even so, I already love this blogging world. Can’t wait to read more from you. 🙂
